CCC certification, also known as China Compulsory Product Certification, is a mandatory market access system implemented by China in accordance with the law to protect consumer safety, national security and the environment. Starting from August 1, 2023, power banks have been officially included in the CCC certification management scope and will be fully enforced from August 1, 2024. Power banks that have not obtained CCC certification are prohibited from being manufactured, sold, imported or used for other business activities.
The CCC certification for power banks has a clear scope of application. Generally speaking, portable power sources that weigh no more than 18 kilograms, contain lithium-ion batteries and/or battery packs with a rated capacity greater than 600mAh, and have AC/DC input/output functions, such as common power banks, portable energy storage power sources, and camping power banks, all fall into this category. If the product is equipped with a universal output interface, even if the manufacturer does not explicitly state its "power bank" function, CCC certification is still required.
The standards on which this certification is based mainly include GB 31241-2022 "Safety Technical Specification for Lithium-ion Batteries and Battery Packs for Portable Electronic Products" and GB 4943.1-2022 "Audio, video, Information Technology and Communication Technology Equipment - Part 1: Safety Requirements". The certification and testing items cover multiple key areas. In terms of electrical safety, strict tests will be conducted on overcharge protection, overdischarge protection, short-circuit protection, etc., to prevent circuit loss of control and potential danger in abnormal situations. In terms of battery safety, the quality of battery cells and cycle life are all key points of inspection. At the same time, the requirements for environmental protection of the product cannot be ignored.
Obtaining CCC certification is not only a "pass" to enter the market, but also helps enhance the brand image and market competitiveness. The CCC certification for power banks ensures the safe use of consumers and promotes the entire industry to develop in a healthy and standardized direction.
